 Cricket

If you live in the Indian Subcontinent and do not know Cricket, well, you are dumb. Cricket is the de facto national game and past-time in India. People play Cricket everywhere- take in cities, metropolises, slums, villages....the list never ends.

If you want more info on cricket, you can access an excellent source @ http://www.crircket.org.

The hi-point of Indian Cricket was in 1983 when India won the World Cup beating Lloyd’s West Indians in a nail biting finish, where India had scored a mere 183 runs! Imagine beating the then lions of First Class Cricket- the West Indians.

Some of the greatest players of Cricket are from India, including, GRV (GR Vishwanath), Chandra (B.S. Chandrashekar), Sunny (Sunil Gavaskar), Ravi Shastri, Sachin Tendulkar, the imicable Kris (Krishnamachari Srikkanth), the great Kapil Dev, Azharuddin, Jadeja, classy Sandip Patil, Bedi, Kumble, Srinath, Sada (Sadanand Vishwanath) and tons of others., too numerous to mention here.

Players from Karnataka (my home state) in the National Team include Kumble, Srinath, Rahul Dravid, Dodda Ganesh, and Venkatesh Prasad. Past players like Sadanand Vishwanath,  Kirmani, Chandra, G R Vishwanath and others have all brought glory to India.

Here is a collection of photos with the greatest of players- All photos taken on 29.4.1982. Click on the hot spots to learn more about each player.
